Seagate has launched its new hard disk drive (HDD) SkyHawk AI 20TB in India. With this, another device has been added to the company’s video imaging and analytics devices. This hard disk drive is designed for network video recorders (NVR). It supports multiple video and AI streams. It is built on ImagePerfect AI firmware. The device was launched this week at the ISC West security industry trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The SkyHawk AI 20TB HDD will be priced at Rs 54,999 in India. It can be purchased from C-Gate’s distributor Prama India. The company has said that it will start mass shipping the device this month and this hard disk drive will be available for purchase in India soon.

Seagate SkyHawk AI 20TB specifications, features

According to Seagate, the SkyHawk AI 20TB is designed for network video recorders. It can support up to 64 video streams from HD cameras and 32 streams of AI. The device is built with ImagePerfect AI firmware and can keep frame drops to zero percent even during heavy workloads. It is claimed to deliver an average time between failures (MTBF) of 2 million hours. It can also handle a workload of 550TB per year, which is three times more than standard video imaging and analytics (VIA) drives. It uses a 3.5-inch form factor.

The HDD supports Skyhawk Health Management which informs users about the environment and usage conditions affecting the device. It also guides the user for device protection based on this. SkyHawk AI also offers Rescue Data Recovery Services to recover data loss due to sudden loss such as power outage, user error or other reasons. The device comes with a 5-year warranty and 3 years of data recovery.
