200 Foot Asteroid 2023 JD2 Will Come Close Earth Today Says Nasa

Today our Earth is going to face an asteroid whose size is approximately 200 feet. When this asteroid as big as an airplane comes close to the Earth, the distance between the two will reduce to just 56 lakh 30 thousand kilometers. This distance seems huge in hearing and reading, but it is nothing compared to the universe. American space agency NASA (NASA) has given information about Asteroid 2023 JD2 and considered it ‘potentially dangerous’ for Earth.

However, this does not mean that the asteroid can cause any harm to our Earth. ‘2023 JD2’ is considered ‘potentially dangerous’ because it is going to pass very close. Scientists will continue to monitor it until it goes far away from the Earth. The danger to our planet may increase if the direction of the asteroid changes and it turns towards the Earth.

Scientists have been believing that millions of years ago, dinosaurs were wiped out from our earth due to the destruction caused by an asteroid collision. In recent years, an incident from 2013 can be remembered. A 59 feet wide asteroid had crashed on Chelyabinsk city of Russia. Due to that tiny asteroid, 8000 buildings were damaged and a thousand people were injured.

Talking about asteroid ‘2023 JD2’, it is moving towards the Earth at a high speed of 46 thousand 891 kilometers per hour. It belongs to the Apollo Group of Asteroids. Asteroids are also called minor planets. According to NASA, just as all the planets of our solar system revolve around the Sun, in the same way asteroids also revolve around the Sun.

When asteroids come close to the Earth, scientists look at the distance between them and the Earth. For this the help of satellite and radar is taken. Most asteroids orbit in the Main Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter, but many asteroids have orbits that pass near Earth.
