24 ‘dangerous’ apps removed from Google Play Store, have you downloaded them…

Google Play Store has removed 24 apps. All these apps were loaded with malware and were allegedly collecting data and sending it to some servers in China. All these apps belonged to the same main Chinese company, which was running these apps in Google App Market through multiple developer accounts. These apps were first noticed by VPN Pro employees. All these apps were asking users for the permissions asked by Android antivirus apps.

One of VPN Pro blog post According to , a Chinese company named Shenzhen HAWK, which is also a subsidiary of TCL Corporation, is running 24 apps on Google Play Store. All these apps have been downloaded more than 382 million (38 crore 20 lakh) times. These apps were asking for some very dangerous permissions from Android users and some of the apps were even loaded with malware etc. Sophos’s Tell What is known is that these apps pretended to diagnose and fix problems in the phone and then asked users for money to diagnose further problems. Not only this, many times it also gave users the option to install other apps loaded with malware.

These apps released by Shenzhen HAWK include weather information app which has been downloaded more than 1 crore times, sound recorder app which has been downloaded more than 10 crore times, file manager app which has got more than 5 crore downloads, 10 These include Super Cleaner app which has received more than 10 million downloads and Virus Cleaner 2019 app which has been downloaded more than 100 million times. The blog says the news was reported by Forbes on Tuesday. Information was delivered to Google, soon after Google Removed all these apps from Play Store. After Google removed Shenzhen HAWK’s apps TCL Corporation contacted VPN Pro and said the company is in talks with Google regarding the matter. Apart from this, TCL has also said that the company is setting up a security check regarding its apps.
