87 foot asteroid 2023 GF2 heading towards earth today with speed of 17235km nasa alerts

Meteorites keep revolving in the solar system continuously. These are also called minor planets but sometimes they pose a big threat. Due to the gravity of larger planets, they start moving towards the planets and may even collide with them. Today NASA has issued an alert of a large asteroid coming towards the Earth. It is said to be the size of an airplane. Let us tell you how dangerous this asteroid passing near the Earth can be today.

NASA has issued an alert today i.e. on April 30 about a large asteroid coming close to the Earth. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (Jet Propulsion Laboratory According to (JPL), the asteroid is named 2023 GF2. Its size is 87 feet which is as big as an airplane. It is going to pass close to the Earth today. When it will be closest to the Earth, its distance will be 4,400,000 kilometers.

These continuously rotating meteorites or asteroids, according to space agencies, are a threat looming around the Earth. Although NASA says that the chances of them colliding with the Earth are very less. But sometimes small asteroids often enter the Earth’s atmosphere. These are often seen as burning stars at night, because after entering the atmosphere they experience tremendous friction and catch fire.

But they get burnt and destroyed before reaching the earth’s surface. Because so much friction with the atmosphere is very tremendous. Therefore, there is a 1 in 100 chance of an asteroid hitting the Earth. But, if a big asteroid hits the Earth, it can destroy the Earth. In 2013, a meteorite named Chelyabinsk exploded in the sky in Russia, causing damage to 7 thousand buildings. Due to this, more than 1400 people were injured. This asteroid was 59 feet in size. Whereas today the asteroid coming closest to the Earth is 87 feet.
