Mahindra Thar left behind Maruti Suzuki Jimny in Sales by Big Margin

a media Report According to , late last year, Maruti Suzuki launched the Thunder Edition of the Jimny at Rs 10.74 lakh (ex-showroom). This was of its base variant whose price was reduced. However, the company had said that this has been done to liquidate the inventory at the end of the year. Jimny sales have declined in the last six months. Jimny can be purchased in two dual tone and five single tone colours. It has a 462 cc 4 cylinder petrol engine which generates power of 104.8 PS and torque of 134.2 Nm at 4000 rpm. Its fuel tank is of 40 litres. It comes with the option of 5 speed manual transmission and 4 speed AT.
Jimny gets a 22.86 cm touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, push start and stop, climate control, power windows, digital lock and tachometer. It has been provided with security features like side and curtain airbags, dual front airbags, brake limited slip differential, ABS, EBD, ESP, hill hold control, hill descent control, brake assist function, rear view camera and side impact door beams.
Mahindra’s Thar sales in January were 6,059 units. This is an increase of approximately 37 percent on a year-on-year basis. Mahindra has retained its position as the largest SUV maker in the third quarter of the current financial year. The company’s SUV sales have increased by more than 30 percent. Its Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic are getting a strong response. Mahindra’s market share in terms of revenue in the SUV segment was 21 percent. Apart from Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic, it sells XUV700, XUV300, Thar, Bolero, Bolero Neo and XUV400 EV in this segment. Mahindra has increased the production of Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic due to which their waiting period has reduced.
