American space agency NASA is also involving private companies in its Moon Mission. NASA plans to build a Moon car. It will be half vehicle and half robot. It is also called Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV). NASA plans to make the car travel to the Moon for two astronauts if needed and also work semi-automatically on its own, so that research related to the Moon can be completed.

NASA completed the Artemis 1 mission last year. ‘Artemis 2’ mission is to be launched in the year 2024. Similarly, work is going on on Artemis 3, 4 and 5 missions. After about 50 years, 4 astronauts will be sent to the Moon through Artemis 2 mission. These astronauts will return only after circling the moon. In the future, astronauts will also be landed on the moon. Then they will need all the equipment which is necessary there. Moon car is also a part of this.

NASA has asked private companies to send their submissions for LTV service contracts for future Artemis missions. Companies have to wait till 10th July deadline Has been given. The company that will provide end-to-end service will be able to join the contract. This includes responsibility from development to delivery of the car.

Last year, a report came out that NASA is planning to include a rover and vehicle in its Moon mission. NASA had also put forward two partnerships for the vehicle. The first partnership was between General Motors and Lockheed Martin. The second partnership was between Northrop Grumman, AVL, Intuitive Machines, Lunar Outpost and Michelin. NASA is not alone in wanting to land a vehicle on the moon. Japan’s Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has partnered with Nissan and Toyota for two separate lunar driving projects.
