NCERT removes Darwin’s theory of biological evolution from syllabus Scientists wrote letter

Students have always been studying Charles Darwin’s theory of biological evolution in the science syllabus. Now NCERT has decided to remove this theory from the syllabus forever. This decision of NCERT is being criticized a lot. More than 1800 scientists, teachers and experts interested in science from across the country have expressed their protest. Scientists, teachers etc. have signed an open letter against the removal of Darwin’s evolution theory from the syllabus of class 9th and 10th.

According to media reports, Breakthrough Science Society Signed by (BSS) Letter Has been issued. The special thing is that the signatories of the letter also include representatives of well-known institutions like Indian Institute of Science, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

It is said that after the Covid-19 pandemic, NCERT has taken this decision to reduce the burden of syllabus on students. The full name of NCERT is National Council of Educational Research and Training, which works on school education and gives its advice to the government. Earlier it was being said that Darwin’s theory has been removed from the syllabus for just one session. Now it is being said that Darwin’s evolution theory has been removed from the syllabus forever. Scientists are condemning this decision. He says that this theory is very important for the students.

What does Darwin’s theory of evolution say?

The name of Charles Darwin is included among the great scientists of the world. One of his books ‘On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection’ was published in the year 1859. There was a chapter named Theory of Evolution in the book. It was told that humans have one ancestor. Darwin’s theory was that humans’ ancestors were monkeys. When some monkeys started living differently in different places, changes gradually started taking place in them. These changes were visible in the next generation.
