Report, information of millions of users of Webkinz World game is in danger
ZDNet’s Report According to , the hacker has uploaded a 1 GB size file, which included the names and passwords of more than two crore users. However, the passwords leaked online were encrypted with the MD5-Crypt algorithm.
It is being reported that issues within the Webkinz World database have been circulating online for some time and the game’s team has addressed and patched some of these bugs. However, the Canadian company that made the game was not able to completely fix this problem. Due to which the hacker got success in his plans.
Commenting on the hack, a company spokesperson said (translated) “Webkinz never asks for users’ last name, phone number or address and all transactions go through our e-store, which has its own servers and accounts.” which are not accessible through Webkinz in any way.” “Even if some passwords are decrypted, valuable user account information contained in the game data cannot be obtained.”
According to information available on the Webkinz support page, accounts that have been inactive for more than 18 months are archived by the company. It also claims that all information “except the user name and password” is removed when the account is archived.
