Recently, a message is going viral on WhatsApp, in which wrong information has been given regarding the number and color of ‘ticks’. It has been told in this message that the government is keeping an eye on all the messages being broadcast. This fake message has now been canceled by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on Twitter. PIB is a government agency, which provides information to the media about government schemes, policies etc.

It has also been assured on the tweet that the government is not doing any work like monitoring the messages. PIB has also asked people to stay away from such fake messages.

For those of you who are not aware about this viral message, let us tell you that in this viral fake message it is written that “WhatsApp has implemented a new system, through which users can find out whether their Whether the messages being sent are being monitored by the government or whether the government can take action against them regarding the messages or not.” In this message, the number and color of ticks coming in the message is also mentioned.

According to the fake message, if three blue ticks appear in the message sent by the user, it means that the government is keeping an eye on his message. If two blue and one red ticks appear, it means action can be taken against the sender. If one blue and two red ticks appear, it means the government is checking the data of the message sender. At the end if three red ticks appear, the government has initiated action and the sender of the message will receive a summons from the court.

However, PIB has made it clear in its tweet that the government is not doing anything like this and this viral message is completely fake. Let us tell you that WhatsApp is end-to-end encrypted, so neither the government nor even WhatsApp itself can read the messages of the users.
