Google Indian Unit retires Employee After giving Star Performer of Month Reward

A person from Hyderabad, who is associated with Google’s unit in India as a senior associate, has explained his situation on LinkedIn. He has written that he was shocked when he got the information of his ouster from the company last weekend. Google has named him as the star performer of the month. Rewards After giving the salary, he was fired from the job. He told, “I was shocked when I received the email about layoffs from Google Operations Center. This is among the most valued companies. I was proud to be associated with Google and will always be. I have a difficult question that why did this happen to me when I was the star performer of the month? There is no answer to this.” He said, “My salary has been halved for two months. My financial plans have been ruined completely.” This former Google worker has also requested people on LinkedIn to suggest better opportunities for him.

Google’s cloud program manager, Aakriti Walia, has also had to leave the company. Aakriti, a resident of Gurugram, had recently celebrated her five years in Google. She said that she was shocked to receive a message that she was not getting access to her computer. Last month, Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc announced the layoff of about 12,000 workers. This is about six percent of the company’s total workforce.

The company’s CEO, Sundar Pichai had told the staff that after reviewing the products and workers, it has been decided to lay off employees in many countries and departments. Earlier, global software company Microsoft had announced the removal of about 10,000 workers. This is about five percent of the company’s total staff. Apart from this, e-commerce and tech companies Amazon and Meta have also laid off thousands of workers.
