The MRP of the silicone strap variant of Lava Prowatch ZN is Rs 4999. It has been brought at a launch price of Rs 2599. Prowatch ZN can be had with metal strap for Rs 2999. A silicone strap is also available with it.
The first impression of any product is its box. The packaging of Lava Prowatch ZN is quite solid. It comes in a square compact box. As soon as you open the box, the first thing you get is an attached watch with a strap and a charging cable, which can be connected to any mobile charger.
The Prowatch ZN is a watch with a circular dial. This dial is neither too big nor too small. There are two rotating crowns at the top and bottom on the right side of the dial, which have different uses. Lava claims that the dial of Prowatch ZN is made of metal and zinc alloy. Personally I found it quite durable. The bottom area also looked strong.
The silicone strap of the Prowatch ZN is wide and long. Its design is like the strap of a normal watch. The strap is detachable from the dial, which I found to be a good option as the strap does need to be cleaned at times. The company claims that the strap of Prowatch ZN remains resistant to the effects of sweat and water, hence this watch does not touch the hands during outdoor activities.
Due to the thin wrist, the Prowatch ZN felt a little big in my hand. My skin is sensitive, so I got itching when I tied the strap tightly. However, Prowatch ZN was looking good in the hands of one of my colleagues. In terms of look and feel, it has the power to compete with any expensive smartwatch.
The circular dial of the Prowatch ZN offers a 1.43-inch AMOLED display. Its resolution is 466×466 pixels. The peak brightness is 600 nits and the refresh rate is 60 Hz. All these specs add to the Prowatch ZN’s display. Due to the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the chances of scratches in the display are reduced.
The display quality of Prowatch ZN is satisfying me. Punchy colors are emerging in the display which do not irritate the eyes. Display brightness is set to maximum by default. I did not reduce it. Everything looked quite sharp in indoor use. The display did not disappoint even in sunlight and I was able to see the time and my step count seamlessly.
Prowatch ZN is quite easy to use. The watch turns on when you press the top rotating crown. I had downloaded Lava’s Prospot app from Google Play Store. After signing in and pairing the watch over Bluetooth, the Prowatch ZN went to work.
First of all I changed the watch face. This option is available by rotating the top rotating crown. You can also change the watch face by going to display settings or change it from Prospot. Prowatch ZN supports a total of 150 watch faces.
By swapping the display left and right, all the features of Prowatch ZN are available. Bluetooth calling was one of the first things I used. I liked its quality. The sound of the speaker was also satisfactory. Top 10 favorite contacts can be saved so that they can be called from the watch whenever needed. You can also view phone messages on Prowatch ZN. Notifications from WhatsApp and Insta are received.
This watch can also control the music of the phone. Connects to the phone’s camera. It has the facility of calculator. Some games also come installed in the watch. One feature that I particularly liked is that this watch works as a flashlight when needed.
Things can be set as per your choice by going to settings. I did not find much need for this, because I was able to see every activity in detail on the Prospot app.
Prowatch ZN also works as a fitness tracker. More than 110 sports modes have been provided in it. I did not use any because time was short. However, the PPG sensor installed in the watch was continuously measuring my heart rate and SpO2. In both cases, I found this sensor to be accurate, as it showed my heart rate more while walking. This sensor also calculated my sleep. Tuesday night I slept for 7 and a half hours and the watch told me that I was in deep sleep for only one and a half hours. On the first day of wearing the watch, I walked 4785 steps. However, the watch was not showing every step count. 10 to 15 steps were being updated simultaneously in the display.
This watch also measures stress. You can do breathing exercises. I have not used these yet.
Prowatch ZN is powered by RTL8763EWE-VP chipset, which performs smoothly. While using it for three days, I did not face any performance related problems with the watch. The new Lava Watch has a 350mAh battery. It is claimed that it gets full in 1 hour. I did not need to charge the watch during three days of use. The battery which started at 96% had dropped to 82%.
Lava claims that the battery lasts for 7 to 8 days in normal use. If used for Bluetooth calling, backup is available for 3 days and standby time is 15 to 20 days. Its charging cable is in magnet form, which charges the watch by sticking to the point below the dial.
Talking about other features, Prowatch ZN has support for Always On Display. Apart from Bluetooth calling, there is a facility of call recording. If you cannot answer an incoming call, you can send a quick reply. It comes with IP68 rating, which means you can swim for 30 minutes in clean water up to a depth of one and a half meters. AI voice assistant is also provided in the watch. The most important thing is that the company is offering 2 years warranty.
There are many things about Prowatch ZN that make it worth buying. Can’t ask you to buy a watch based on first impression, but do compare it with the products on your wishlist.
