WhatsApp Making Phone Contact Sync Toggle for Linked Devices Says Report

WhatsApp is preparing a new privacy-related feature for managing synced contacts for Android. According to information shared by the feature tracker, this feature may add new functions to the multi-account feature that allows users to use two WhatsApp accounts on the same device without using parallel apps. With this change, users can choose how they want to sync their address book contacts. This builds on other beta features recently introduced on WhatsApp for Android, which include a new shortcut to mark all chats as read at once.

It was spotted on WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.18.14. When it is finally rolled out, users will reportedly be able to choose the contacts they want to sync with their phone across multiple accounts. Apart from contact syncing management, it also serves as a feature to let users manage WhatsApp contacts from the linked device.

WABetaInfo claims that the new shortcut is still a work in progress and is not available even to beta testers registered through the Google Play beta program. It may be rolled out with the upcoming update of WhatsApp for Android. However, it is worth noting that WhatsApp can work on many new features, but not all of them come in the public version of the app.
