Xiaomi Redmi 8A does not have an app drawer and all the app icons are placed on the home screen. Performance and battery life of Redmi 8A
The Redmi 8A has good hardware that offers a good experience. While using the phone, there were very few times when the phone felt slow but heavy apps took some time to load. We have the 2GB RAM variant for review and it couldn’t run multiple apps in the background. There is no fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone but the Face Unlock feature unlocks the phone quickly.
The viewing angles of Redmi 8A are good and the sound from the speaker is also loud. However, when using the display in sunlight, it felt like it could have been a little better. We already have an idea of how the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor performs, as we tested it with the Redmi 7A (review), the Redmi 8A is not much different.

During usage, we kept active WhatsApp account, took some camera samples, used Google Maps for navigation for two hours, ran some benchmarks and even after all this the phone’s battery lasted the whole day and at the end of the day the phone had 50 percent battery. Even then there was still left.
In our HD video loop test, Xiaomi Redmi 8A lasted 16 hours and 31 minutes. The 10-watt charger supplied with the handset charges the phone 25 percent in 30 minutes and 46 percent in an hour. Photos taken with the Redmi 8A were good in adequate light, but when zoomed in the sample shots lacked detail. During close-up shots we found that the camera creates good natural depth of field. The AI in the camera app also works fast, details were captured properly in the pictures taken with the handset in this price segment.
Portrait shots taken with the Redmi 8A had average edge detection but the background appeared slightly overexposed in some of our samples. There was a lack of detail in low light, Redmi 8A manages noise in low light but there was a lack of sharpness in the pictures. Selfies taken during the day captured good detail and you can apply beautification filters before taking the shot.
Photo quality is not very good in low light as grains are visible when zoomed. The primary camera is capable of recording video at 1080p resolution but the handset does not have stabilization.
