Chinese company Xiaomi’s latest smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is about to enter the Indian market. If seen, it is an upgrade of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro whose popularity does not arise any question. Xiaomi is now facing strong challenge in the market from Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Motorola One Power and Honor 8X. The responsibility of answering these challenges will now be on the shoulders of Redmi Note 6 Pro. The new phone seems to be inspired by the design of Redmi Note 5 Pro and many of the specifications are also the same. But it has a 6.26-inch 19:9 full-HD+ display, that too with a notch.

The smartphone will be unveiled on November 22 in New Delhi. Its price will also be revealed on the same day. Redmi Note 6 Pro price of also Redmi Note 5 Pro Expected to be around. Let us tell you that the starting price of Redmi Note 5 Pro is Rs 13,999 and the expensive variant is Rs 15,999. However, considering the increase in prices of Redmi phones in recent times, the price of Redmi Note 6 Pro can be expected to be slightly higher. We got some time to spend with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro ahead of its launch. How did we like this phone at first glance? Let us know…

Redmi Note 6 Pro has the same display as Redmi Note 5 Pro, only the size is bigger and the display also has a notch. Its resolution is 1080×2280 pixels and maximum brightness is 500 nits. In the short time we spent with the phone, we found that the display has excellent viewing angles. Color and contrast are also good. However, we did notice backlight bleeding at the highest brightness levels. Due to 2.5D curved edges, the meeting of the display glass and frame is very smooth.

Redmi Note 6 Pro has Snapdragon 636 processor

Apart from a few changes, Redmi Note 6 Pro looks very similar to Redmi Note 5 Pro. The new model is 0.5 cm wider. The phone is a bit wide, but it feels similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro in the hands. There is no capacitive button in the phone. Instead, users can use onscreen buttons. There is a dual camera setup on the back. There is a fingerprint sensor on the rear only. During use, we found that there was a slight lag in unlocking the phone.

Redmi Note 6 Pro has the lock/power button and volume button on the right side. Whereas, the hybrid dual SIM tray is on the left side. MicroSD card can be used with two Nano SIMs or one Nano SIM in this tray. If needed, it is possible to use a microSD card up to 256 GB. At the bottom, there are speaker grills on either side of the micro-USB port, one of which has a speaker in the grill itself. 3.5 mm headphone jack, microphone and IR emitter have been placed at the top.

Rear camera setup has become better. Still only 12 megapixel primary autofocus sensor and 5 megapixel secondary depth sensor will be available. But both of them have F/1.9 aperture. In the limited time we spent with the Redmi Note 6 Pro, we found that daylight shots came out crisp. We could not test the low light photography of this phone. Well, we would suggest you to wait for the review.

An important feature of this phone is dual selfie camera setup. There is a 20-megapixel primary sensor on the front panel along with a 2-megapixel depth sensor which is given for portrait shots. Photos came out well in good lighting. The Bokeh effect was very precise.

Like the older handset, Redmi Note 6 Pro also has a metal back and comes with a matte finish. That means the phone slips in the hands. Due to its large body, it is not easy to hold it in hands. If seen, Redmi Note 6 Pro weighing 182 grams is only 2 grams heavier than Redmi Note 5 Pro.

Only Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor has been used in Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro. Our expectation was that the company would have used a more powerful processor in it, possibly Snapdragon 660 processor. Xiaomi could have used MediaTek Helio P60 processor instead, because Xiaomi phones equipped with MediaTek chipset are now sold in India too. However, our decision on the performance of the phone based on this processor will come only in the review. There will be two variants of this phone – 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM with 64 GB storage. Performance was smooth. We never felt any lag during our time with the 6 GB RAM variant.

Redmi Note 6 Pro runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. At present, there is no information available about Android 9.0 Pie update. The phone is based on MIUI, which means you will get many useful features.

The AI Face Unlock feature worked well in the Redmi Note 6 Pro. The phone registered the face quickly. The handset also unlocked quickly. It is not as accurate as 3D Face Unlock. Redmi Note 6 Pro has a 4,000 mAh battery. It supports 10 watt charging. It has battery saver mode.

What else is special in Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro? We will tell about this in detail in the review.
