Elon Musk Reacts to Bengali Signboard at London Station

A debate has erupted over the Bengali language signboard at London’s railway station. This signboard is installed at the Whitechapal railway station in London. On one hand, the name of the station is in English language, so the name of the station next to it is also written in Bengali language. A UK MP shared the photo of the station’s signboard on social media and said that the station should be named only in English, or English language. After his post, billionaire Elon Musk also gave his reaction to this post, after which the controversy has increased.

Great Yarmoth MP Rupert Lowe in Britain shared a post on his social media platform x showing the gate of the White Chapel railway station in London. The name of the station in English is written on one side at the gate, along with it in Bengali. The MP said in the post that the name of the station should be in English only and only. Elon Musk, the owner of Spacex, also responded to this post. Alan Musk wrote in response, “Yes!” That is, the name of the station should be in English only.

After Allen Musk’s reaction, the debate on social media has intensified. Some people are justifying it and some people are wrong. Some people say that it is not wrong to have a signboard in some other language apart from English. Actually, this Bengali signboard was installed at London railway station in 2022. The aim of planting it was to honor the contribution of the Bangladeshi community in East London.

The largest Bangladeshi population in the region in Britain is said to be. The decision to install Bengali signboard at the railway station was also appreciated by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He described it as proud for Bengali language.

Mamta Banerjee also posted a post on X in March 2022. In which he had said, ‘It is a matter of pride that the London Tube Rail has accepted Bengali language as a signboard at the Whitechapal station. This shows the growing global identity and importance of the 1000 year old language. ‘ Mamta Banerjee described it as a cultural victory for overseas Indians.
