Tesla preparaing to open its first showroom in India, company signs lease for space in bkc area of Mumbai, to pay rent of Rs 35 lakh per month

According to the registration documents from the real estate data analytics firm Cre Matrix, the license for this space is Tesla India Motor & Energy PVT, which has an office at Panchsheel Business Park in Pune’s Plane Nagar in Maharashtra. NDTV Profit Has seen a copy of the lease and license agreement for this space. This rent agreement has been done for five years. In the second half of this year, the company can start business in the country.
Tesla’s head Elon Musk held a meeting with him during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US last month. Initially the company may import EV from its factory in Berlin, Germany. In the next few years, the company can set up its factory in the country. The central government is working on a new policy to promote the manufacturing of EV in the country. In March last year, the government reduced custom duty to 15 percent on the import of EV with special conditions. In the new EV policy, the turnover may be required to increase Rs 2,500 crore within the second year of car makers for car makers. With this, the government can increase import duty exemption.
There was a need to invest a minimum of Rs 4,150 crore to start manufacturing in the policy introduced last year. Manufacturing was to be started within three years. The new EV policy can be announced this month. Applications for this can be approved in the next few months. For the import of electric cars in the country, Tesla may initially depend on its gigafactory in Berlin, Germany. The company first plans to sell electric cars in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
