How to change boarding station on IRCTC website

Do you know that you can change the boarding station after buying a ticket for a train journey? This facility is available on the website of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). This service is for those railway passengers who want to change the boarding station due to any emergency or personal need. The service was started by IRCTC earlier.

Please note that this service is for those users who have booked tickets online. This facility is not available for i-tickets. Apart from this, the boarding station cannot be changed in the tickets purchased through Vikalp service.

This is how you can change boarding station on IRCTC website…

1. Login to the IRCTC website. Use the login ID and password.
2. Go to My Account on the new IRCTC website. Here, go to the My Transaction option in mouse over. After this, select the option ‘Booked Ticket History’.

3. After this, select the ticket in which you want to change the boarding point. You will see different options at the bottom, such as PNR status, cancel ticket and others. There is also an option to change boarding point here. Click on it.
4. After this a pop window will open. In which there will be the name of the station from which you can choose your new boarding point. You can change your boarding point here.

Important things related to changing the boarding station on IRCTC website…

1. Change of boarding station is possible only 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train.
2. According to IRCTC websiteIf a passenger changes the boarding station once, he/she will no longer have any right to travel on that ticket from the earlier boarding point.
3. If the passenger is found travelling from the old boarding station, he/she will have to pay the fare for the journey from that station to the new boarding point along with a penalty.
4. As per IRCTC rules, change in boarding station is possible only once. This change is not possible in currently booked tickets.
