Acer to Increase its Share in ‘Make in India’, Will Expand Into AI PC

Acer, one of the largest consumer electronics companies, has planned to increase its share in the Make in India campaign. India is one of the key markets for Acer. The company has announced that it will move ahead in the country’s tech market through new segments such as consumer electronics, AI PC and eMobility.

In the coming years Aser plans to introduce more eco-friendly technologies to meet its commitment of becoming carbon neutral within the stipulated period. To increase focus on manufacturing, the Modi government launched the Make in India campaign. It aims to boost investment, innovation, improve skill development and make the country an international manufacturing hub. Acer has said that it will tie up with local original design manufacturers (ODMs) for its IT hardware products like desktops, laptops, tablets, servers and workstations.

Acer CEO, Jason Chen, said in a statement, “There is a lot of potential for innovation and expansion in the country.” Recently, the company had said at the COP28 held in Dubai that it aims to make laptops equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) through its eco-friendly ‘Conscious Technology’. One of these laptop series is Aspire Vero. The Taiwanese company had said, “Acer promises to achieve carbon neutrality for the Aspire Vero laptop series, starting with the new Aspire Vero 16.”

With the aim of attracting large investments in IT hardware manufacturing, the central government had announced a manufacturing incentive scheme of two billion dollars. The government aims to increase the annual production of electronics to $ 300 billion by 2026. Major companies selling laptops in the country include Apple, Dell, Lenovo, HP, Acer, Samsung and LG. However, a large number of laptops are imported from countries like China. South Korea’s Samsung, which makes smartphones and laptops, may launch its Galaxy Book 4 series soon. It will replace the Galaxy Book 3 launched in February this year. It may include Galaxy Book 4 360, Galaxy Book 4 360 Pro, Galaxy Book 4 Pro and Galaxy Book 4 Ultra.
