How to Check PAN Card Validity Status, check whether your PAN card is active or not

The central government on July 27 deactivated 11.44 lakh PAN cards and identified thousands of fake PAN cards. Minister of State for Finance Santosh Kumar Gangwar informed Parliament that more than 11.44 lakh PAN cards have been either blocked or deactivated. This has been done in cases where more than one PAN card was allotted to a person.

Gangwar said that till July 27, 1,566 fake PAN cards were identified. If you have more than one PAN card, you can check online to know which of your cards is valid. For this, you have to follow the process given below.

This is how you can check the validity status of your PAN card

1. To check the validity of your PAN card, visit the Income Tax e-filing website. Here, click on the Know Your PAN button on the left side of the screen.
2. On the next page, you will be asked for other important information like name, status and mobile number. You give these details. The mobile number should be the same which you had given in the PAN card form. Because OTP will be sent to this number for user verification.
3. After giving all the details, click on the submit button. After this, on the next page, enter the OTP number that has come on your registered phone number.
4. If you have multiple PAN cards in your name, you will be asked some more questions, like father’s name.
5. After providing the required information, you will be able to check the validity status of your PAN card. Apart from this, you will also get to know about those PAN cards which are active.
