WhatsApp New Search by Date Feature Enable Calendar Option Here’s How to Do It All Details

Meta’s messaging platform WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that enhances the search capability of the app. The latest feature gives users more convenience in searching text etc. in chat history. Now users can search messages based on a specific date.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced this feature on his WhatsApp channel Announcement The ‘Search by Date’ feature is said to be available globally for all users on Android, iOS, Mac, Windows and Web. It was reportedly spotted in beta testing in November 2023.

To use the ‘Search by Date’ feature on WhatsApp, users need to open an individual or group chat in which they want to search for messages. They will then need to tap the three dots in the top right corner on Android phones or tap the name of the contact or group on iOS devices. If the app is updated to the latest available version, they will see a small calendar with a search icon after clicking on the regular search option. A pop-up calendar will then let users select the date they want, showing messages sent or received on that date.

For example, if they want to see a message from October 20, 2023, they can select it by date, month, and year on the pop-up calendar. Once the date is selected, the chat or group will directly show the messages from that day, from where users can also scroll up or down. Without this feature, users would be forced to scroll through messages from previous months to access the text.

WhatsApp also recently introduced four new text formatting options globally – bulleted points, numbered lists, block quotes, and inline quotes. The new formats now join the existing bold, italic, strikethrough, and monospace formatting options.
