Both the smartphones come with UFS 2.1 storage and a microSD card slot to expand the storage. This handset of Realme brand has an AMOLED panel with in-display fingerprint sensor. On the other hand, Redmi phones will have LCD panel with HDR support.

Both these smartphones sport full-HD+ resolution. There will also be an option to change the color temperature of the handset panel. Now let’s talk about software. Redmi Note 8 Pro runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie. It comes with many useful features but you will also see many advertisements in this phone.

Performance and battery life of Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Realme XT

Performance is of course extremely important. When the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro was launched, we were curious to see how it would compete with the Realme XT. The MediaTek Helio G90T processor in the Redmi phone performed better than the Snapdragon 712 chipset in the Realme phone and is a good option especially if gaming is important to you.

We have the top-end variants of both smartphones for comparison which come with 8 GB RAM. While watching videos on these smartphones, we liked the output of the Realme XT’s screen as it showed better blacks thanks to the AMOLED panel, and the contrast was also good.

Talking about performance, while using both the handsets, we did not experience any slowdown in the phone. Navigating menus and multitasking between apps was also smooth. To see how the gaming experience is, we played PUBG Mobile on both the handsets.

Both Realme and Redmi handsets ran the game at high settings without any issues. We played the match for 30 minutes on both the phones and noticed that the Redmi Note 8 Pro got a little hotter compared to the Realme XT. Talking about battery consumption during gaming, Redmi Note 8 Pro consumed 11 percent of the battery while Realme XT consumed only 5 percent of the battery.

Different capacity batteries are provided in both the phones. Realme XT will have a 4,000 mAh battery and Redmi Note 8 Pro will have a 4,500 mAh battery. In our HD video loop test, this Realme branded handset lasted for 20 hours and 36 minutes while the Redmi phone lasted only for 14 hours.

Realme XT comes with a powerful charger which can charge the phone’s battery up to 46 percent in half an hour, whereas the battery of Redmi Note 8 Pro was charged only 32 percent.

Camera of Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Realme XT

Both smartphones have four rear cameras at the back, which include a 64-megapixel primary camera sensor, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfie, Realme XT has a 16-megapixel front camera, while Redmi Note 8 Pro has a 20-megapixel front camera.

The camera app on both the smartphones is easy to use but the camera app of Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is a bit more polished. Xiaomi has placed the macro camera button properly, while Realme has hidden different camera modes in the menu.

To see how both handsets perform under similar conditions, we captured images from both smartphones at the same time. Both handsets focus quickly and we faced no problems. In the photos taken with Realme XT in daylight, colors were more accurate and details were also better.

Both phones automatically enable HDR in bright scenes. We liked the photos taken with the Realme XT as the photos taken with the Redmi Note 8 Pro appeared to have more sharpness. Pictures taken with the wide-angle camera came out better than the Redmi Note 8 Pro as pictures taken with the Realme XT showed cooler color tones.

The AI ​​on these smartphones automatically applies settings to take better photos in low light. We noticed that the Realme XT takes brighter shots. While using night mode in both the phones, we found that this phone of Realme brand gives better results.

While shooting a close-up, both the smartphones lock the focus quickly and the phone’s AI detects what we are shooting. Details were similar in both the phones but Realme XT captured the colors accurately.

However, the Redmi Note 8 Pro surprised us in terms of color reproduction and detail when taking close-up shots in low-light. We found that the Redmi Note 8 Pro allows setting the blur level while taking portrait shots, but this was not the case with the Realme XT.

Both the phones keep the subject separated from the background and capture the details well, but Realme XT applies beautification filters on the face. Redmi Note 8 Pro slightly overexposes the background but this was not the case with Realme brand phones.

Portrait shots in low light were better than the Redmi phone with better detail. We have also tested the macro cameras of these smartphones. Both the handsets use LED flash to avoid shadows in the picture while taking macro shots.

In daylight, Realme XT captures images with better detail with and without LED flash. At the same time, in low light, Redmi Note 8 Pro takes better macro shots compared to Realme XT. Selfies taken from both the phones were captured with good details but we liked the photo taken from Redmi Note 8 Pro as its color tone was better.

Both the handsets take good pictures in selfie portrait. Both smartphones are capable of video recording at 4K 30fps. Not only this, both the handsets can also record footage at 1080p 60fps and 1080p 30fps. Videos taken with the Redmi Note 8 Pro came out more dramatic as the phone boosts contrast and sharpness, while the Realme XT gave natural-looking results.

If you are looking for a gaming device that can handle everything then Redmi Note 8 Pro can be a good option. The Realme XT, on the other hand, is a better all-rounder.
