Micromax had introduced its Canvas Lapbook L1160 product in this segment in the month of May. Its price is Rs 10,499. This is the cheapest laptop in its class with 11.6 inch display. Let us try to find out whether the company has made any compromise with the performance by reducing the price.
Micromax Canvas Lapbook L1160 Design and Build
The most important feature of 11.6 inch laptop is its compactness. Its weight is only 1.1 kg. After folding it and closing it, we realized that it was extremely thin. The lapbook is made from plastic. We’re glad the lid doesn’t twist.
After looking at the laptop, you will also say that Micromax has tried its best to hide the image of it being a budget laptop.
Micromax Canvas Lapbook L1160 Performance
The Canvas Lapbook L1160 does most tasks just fine. It boots up quickly and multitasking is less difficult than we expected. You will feel the laptop slowing down a bit. No matter what work you do, you will feel this every time. Its buttons become a little hot during use.
The resolution of the display is 768×1366 pixels which is a bit low, but nowhere bad for a small screen. Viewing angles are not great but color reproduction is decent. The laptop also handles media files like 4K videos well. The credit for this goes to the video decoding engine present in the chipset. There are stereo speakers above the keyboard which provide good sound. The sound will not be very loud. But it is suitable for occasionally listening to songs and watching videos.
We tried to assess the performance of the Lapbook through benchmark tests. But due to weak specifications most of the tests could not be run. It is possible to expand the laptop’s storage via a 64 GB microSD card.
The 4100 mAh battery lasted 5 hours 50 minutes in the PCMark 8 battery test. In normal use, we could use the laptop for 8-9 hours.

At Rs 10,499, the Micromax Canvas Lapbook L1160 is a good Windows 10 laptop. If you want a laptop of this size, then it would not be wrong to consider this product from Micromax. If your work involves a lot of typing then we would suggest you to buy the 14-inch RDP Thinkbook.
Despite the average build and lack of USB 3.0 connectivity, the Lapbook L1160 is a good option, especially if you’re on a tight budget.
