Air India Fare Lock Feature features how they work reserve fares for two days

Air India on Wednesday announced Fare Lock which allows customers to lock or reserve fixed fares for 48 hours. The Tata Group-owned company has introduced this facility to provide more flexibility and comfort to the passengers. Under the new feature, passengers can now lock their fare for two days at very low charges, along with this, customers can also decide their travel program.

The airline said in an official statement that “This helps customers plan their travel without having to worry about the fluctuations in fares and availability of their preferred flight option. This feature will be available at least from the date of booking the service.” Available for flight options up to 10 days away.”

Customers who wish to use this feature will need to select their preferred flight option and select the fare lock option in the booking flow. After this a non-refundable charge will have to be paid. Customers can later visit their booking on the website or mobile app to confirm their booking on the pre-selected fare using the ‘Manage Booking’ option.

Whereas short haul international flight can be reserved for Rs 850 when leaving India and for $10 when coming to India. Apart from this, you can reserve a long haul international flight for Rs 1500 when leaving India and for $18 when coming to India.

Recently, the Aviation Ministry had issued a show cause notice to Air India after a 20-hour delay in the Delhi-San Francisco flight. The flight was delayed on Thursday as passengers had to sit inside the plane without air conditioning in the scorching heat of the capital. Some of them reportedly fainted in the heat, while others pleaded to be allowed to land. Currently Air India operates 51 weekly flights to North America, whereas before privatization this number was 33.
