Big success for ISRO Gaganyaan Mission Cryogenic engine testing successful

Mission Gaganyaan: Work on India’s ‘Mission Gaganyaan’ is going on at a fast pace. According to PTI report, ISRO’s (Indian Space Research Organisation) ‘CE-20 cryogenic engine’ has proved successful in the final tests. This is being seen as a major success for ISRO. The function of the cryogenic engine is to power the ‘cryogenic stage’ of the LVM launch rocket for the Gaganyaan mission. ISRO says that rigorous tests reveal the capabilities of the engine.

What is Mission Gaganyaan?

ISRO is aiming to send Indian astronauts to space by 2025 and Gaganyaan is the name of this mission. This will be India’s first manned space mission. ISRO aims to send three astronauts to space. The mission was planned for 2021, but was delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

First mission will be launched without astronauts

Under this mission, spacecraft will be sent into space three times. The first two flights will be unmanned, that is, no astronaut will go in them. Astronauts will be sent to space in the third flight. ISRO plans to place humans in low Earth orbit at an altitude of 400 kilometers for three days. If everything goes well, India will become the fourth country in the world after America, Russia and China to send humans into space.

ISRO says that the last test was conducted on February 13 at ‘ISRO Propulsion Complex’ Mahendragiri to assess the flight conditions, which was the seventh test of this series. ISRO has said that all ground tests of CE20 engine for Gaganyaan mission have been completed.
