Nasa James Webb telescope captures 19 Nearby Spiral Galaxies see photo
NASA released these pictures on Monday. Janice Lee, a scientist at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, USA, said in a statement that James Webb’s new images are spectacular. This is surprising even for those researchers who have studied such galaxies for decades.
According to NDTV report, the Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) mounted on James Webb prepared these pictures. The instrument also captured stars that are still developing. It is said that the nearest galaxy captured on camera is also about 15 million light years away from the Earth. The farthest captured galaxy is at a distance of 60 million light years from Earth.
James Webb has captured a total of 19 spiral galaxies. According to the report, the photographs show that galaxies grow from the inside out. This means that star formation begins in the center of the galaxy and spreads outward. This also means that the closer the star is to the center of the galaxy, the younger it is.
