Suzuki Reaches Milestone of Manufacturing 80 Lakh Two-wheelers in India

Suzuki Motorcycle, one of the largest automobile companies, has manufactured 80 lakh two-wheelers in India. This Japanese company started business in the country in 2006. It has a wide range of scooters and motorcycles. It has manufactured the last 10 lakh units in just one year.

Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director of the company, said, “The company reaching 8 million units of manufacturing is a testament to its manufacturing capability. I am grateful to our customers and business partners for their continued support and trust in the brand.” The company’s factory manufactures two-wheelers for domestic sale as well as export.

Its Access 125, Burgman Street 125 and Avenis 125 are popular 125 cc range of scooters. Suzuki motorcycle factory is near Gurugram in Haryana. The company’s sales have increased by 21 percent in the last financial year. In the last financial year, the company’s sales in the country increased by 26 percent to 9,21,009 units. Its exports increased by three percent to 2,12,893 units. The company’s sales in March increased by 6.2 percent on year-on-year basis to 1,03,669 units. In the same period last year it was 97,584 units. The company’s sales in the country in March increased by 18 percent to 86,164 units. Last month its exports declined by more than 28 percent to 17,505 units.

Suzuki Motorcycle has got a major share of sales from Access, Avenis and Burgman Street scooters. In the last financial year, the manufacturing of Suzuki motorcycles had reached 10 lakh units. Along with this, the capacity of the company’s plant has also started being fully utilised. The company’s sales have increased rapidly in the last few years. Recently the company launched the V-Strom 800 DE motorcycle. Its price is around Rs 10.30 lakh (ex-showroom). V-Strom 800DE has a 776 cc, liquid cooled parallel twin engine. It generates maximum power of 83 bhp and peak torque of 78 Nm. Its mileage has been claimed to be 22.7 kmpl. Its motorcycles include V-Strom SX, Gixxer SF 250, Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF, Gixxer, Katana, Hayabusa and V-Strom 650XT.
