Google Doodle Marks Starting of Lok Sabha Elections 2024
India is the world’s largest democracy, followed by countries like the United States, Indonesia and Brazil. In the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, more than 16.63 crore voters, including about 8.4 crore men and 8.23 crore women, will cast their votes today at 1.87 lakh polling booths. Voting will be held in 21 states and union territories in the first phase, which makes it the largest phase. This year, the process to elect 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha in the country has started from April 19 and will be completed in 7 phases till June 1. Voting for the second phase will be held on April 26, third phase on May 7, fourth phase on May 13, fifth phase on May 20, sixth phase on May 25 and seventh phase on June 1. Counting of votes and results will be declared on June 4.
In this election, NDA is trying to increase its presence in the Lok Sabha, whose largest member is BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many others have raised the slogan this time ‘this time we will cross 400’. At the same time, the opposition parties have formed INDIA faction against BJP, between which a fierce contest will be seen.
