Google Search May ask fee for its AI features soon

Google has been working on a new AI search feature for its Google Search for some time. One thing to note is that some features like search generative experiences don’t really mesh well with the concept of an ad-supported web. Apart from content creators, Google also gets a large part of its revenue from ads. Apart from this, investment is also being made to create AI models which will benefit the end users. Whereas Google’s intention was to improve the search experience. In particular, general ad-supported Google search will remain free.

According to the report of Financial Times, Google may provide AI based search feature with price tag in the coming time. Google sources suggest that AI based features could become a part of Google’s existing subscription services like Google One. The special thing is that the report claims that even paid experience will not be able to remove the ad. This makes clear the importance of ads to Google’s business model even today.

It seems that their aim is to remain everyone’s favorite. While some people may be willing to pay for an AI-based helpful search experience, most probably won’t want to pay for something they’ve used so far for free. A survey has shown that more than 70 percent people are willing to stick with the free plan. As for Google’s Search Generative Experience (SGE), it’s still under testing and, as Google notes, not yet ready for a product-grade service.
