IPL Cricket Betting Addiction Man Loses Rs 1 Crore Wife Takes Life All Details

Betting is known to ruin people’s homes and its latest victim is the family of an engineer who lost Rs 1 crore by betting on cricket. The matter did not stop here. The engineer’s wife committed suicide after being harassed by creditors after losing money. The name of this engineer is said to be Darshan Babu, who is fond of betting on cricket matches and has been betting on Indian Premier League (IPL) matches since 2021.

NDTV’s AccordingDarshan often borrowed money after losing in betting. In doing so he became indebted to more than Rs 1 crore. Reports suggest that creditors started harassing his family for not returning the borrowed money on time, leading to the suicide of his 23-year-old wife Ranjeeta. The incident is said to have taken place on March 18, the day he was found hanging from the fan in his house.

The report further states that Babu worked as an assistant engineer in the minor irrigation department in Hosadurga. His family says that Darshan had incurred a debt of more than Rs 1 crore and was trapped in IPL betting from 2021 to 2023.

Not only this, Darshan had reportedly borrowed more than Rs 1.5 crore to bet on matches and lost all the money. To repay this loan, Darshan withdrew all his savings and returned approximately Rs 1 crore. However, police say that Darshan still has an outstanding loan of around Rs 84 lakh.

Wife Ranjita’s father says that his daughter was extremely troubled by the constant harassment from creditors and due to this she committed suicide. Ranjitha’s father has also revealed the names of 13 people who had allegedly lent money to Darshan.

According to the report, the police found a suicide note during their investigation, in which Ranjitha described in detail the harassment she faced.
