Honda Elevate SUV Gets Strong Response, 30,000 Units Sold

Sales of Elevate, the only SUV in the country from Honda Cars, one of the largest automobile companies, have crossed 30,000 units. It was launched in September last year. The company has also started exporting this indigenously made SUV to Japan. This is the first time that Honda Cars’ Indian unit has exported a car to Japan. It will be called ‘WR-V’ in Japan. Sales in the SUV segment have increased rapidly in the last few years.

Earlier, Honda Cars’ unit in the country used to export its vehicles to countries like Bhutan, Nepal and South Africa. Its price ranges from Rs 11.58 lakh to approximately Rs 16.20 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara, Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Hyrider, MG Motor’s Astor, Citroen’s C3 Aircross, Skoda’s Kushaq and Volkswagen’s Taigun. It is available with a six-speed manual gearbox and CVT automatic transmission.

Earlier this year, Honda Cars had increased the price of Elevate SUV by Rs 58,000. This is the first increase in its price since its launch last year. Elevate has a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine. It generates power of 119 BHP at 6,600 rpm and torque of 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm. It has a 10.25 inch LCD infotainment system with Apple CarPlay. Wireless charging facility is also available in this SUV.

Recently the company had said that in the last three months, Elevate’s share in its total sales has been more than 50 percent. The CVT variant of the Elevate SUV is in greater demand. More than 90 percent of its components have been locally sourced. Its manufacturing is being done in the company’s factory at Tapukara in Rajasthan. It is available in Phoenix Orange Pearl, Obsidian Blue Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Golden Brown Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic and Meteoroid Gray Metallic colors. It has ventilated front seats, door-panel mounted ORVMs, LED headlights, connected LED lights. Elevate has features like six airbags, electronic stability control, advanced driver assistance system, automatic emergency braking.
