Airbnb stops service in Russia and Belarus, will give free houses to one lakh refugees

Through a tweet, Chesky appealed to the people of Ukraine’s neighboring countries to help Airbnb provide homes to refugees. He said that we need people from nearby countries including Poland, Germany, Hungary and Romania who can offer us their homes. He told that everyone will be accommodated in these houses for free. Its expenses will be raised with help from Airbnb and donors.
After the Russia-Ukraine war, many companies are stopping or limiting their operations in Russia. Netflix has also temporarily halted all its future projects and acquisitions in Russia. The Cannes Film Festival has also issued a statement saying that until the Ukraine conflict ends, it will ban Russia’s official delegation from the 2022 Cannes Festival.

Ukraine is also getting help in cryptocurrency on a large scale. The government of Ukraine has raised about $8 million (about Rs 60 crore) in cryptocurrency after posting an appeal on social media.
Apple, one of the world’s biggest smartphone brands, has stopped the sale of iPhone and other products in Russia due to the attack on Ukraine. American brands like Google, Ford and Harley Davidson have also distanced themselves from Russia. Alphabet Inc, which runs Google, has removed Russian publishers from its platform.
Ford Motor has informed its manufacturing partners in Russia to shut down operations and Harley Davidson has stopped its business and shipment of bikes in Russia. British satellite company OneWeb has decided to suspend all launches from Russia’s Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
