Start by making copies of the documents you need to send with your application.

These documents will be required for PAN card application…

To submit the application, you will need to upload several documents on the PAN Services Unit website. You will have to upload identity card, address proof, date of birth certificate and photograph. You will need to take a scanned copy of one document from each section given below.

1. Identification card
To get a PAN card made, any one of these documents can be sent as an identity card.

Aadhaar card issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India
Voter ID Card
Driving License
Passport
Ration card with photo
Arms License
Photo identity card issued by the Central Government or State Government or any PSU
Pension card with photo
Central Government Health Service Scheme Card or Ex Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme Photo Card
Identity certificate signed by MP or MLA or Councilor or Gazetted Officer

2. Proof of address
Along with the photo ID, you must also submit your address proof with your application. Attach any one of these documents with your form:

Aadhaar card issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India
Voter ID Card
Driving License
Passport
Spouse’s passport
Post office passbook containing the address of the applicant
Latest Property Tax Assessment Order
Domicile Certificate issued by the Government
Allotment letter of accommodation issued by Central or State Government (not older than 3 years)
Property Registration
Address certificate signed by MP or MLA or Councilor or any gazetted officer
Original certificate issued by the company

You can also use these documents, but they should not be more than three months old.

Electricity Bill
Landline bill or broadband connection bill
Water Bill
Gas connection card or book
Bank account statement
Deposit account statement
Credit Card Statement

3. Date of Birth Certificate
Any one of the following documents can be submitted as date of birth proof:

Birth certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation or by any office authorised to issue birth and death certificates by the Registrar of Births and Deaths. Or by the Indian Consulate.
Pension Payment Order
Marriage Certificate issued by the Registrar of Marriages
10th class passing certificate
Passport
Driving License
Domicile Certificate issued by the Government
Affidavit given to the magistrate mentioning the date of birth

4. Photo
You will also have to send two of your photographs along with the PAN card application.

Once you have all the documents in place, do the following:

2. Scroll to the bottom and select Individual in the drop down menu of Apply for a new PAN Card. Then Select.

4. The first field is AO Code which you can search here. You can know about your AO code by calling the Income Tax Department helpline number 18001801961.
5. You should not face any problem in filling the fields like name, gender, address. Yes, take special care while selecting the documents you are going to submit. You can select the form from the drop down menu at point 15.
