Amazon accused of selling ganja, case against senior officers of the company
In a statement, Madhya Pradesh Police said that the executive directors of Amazon India are being named as accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act because of the information provided by the company in response to questions asked by the police. There is a difference between the documents made and the facts revealed in the discussion. However, police did not disclose how many officers were charged.
In this matter, the police had called and talked to Amazon officials. Police estimate that approximately one thousand kilos of ganja, worth approximately $148,000 (approximately Rs 1.1 crore), was sold through Amazon.
At the same time, Amazon has also issued a statement in its defense saying that the company does not legally allow the listing and sale of banned products and takes strict action against its sellers in case of violations. Regarding this alleged smuggling through the website, the company also says that it is investigating the allegations.
It is noteworthy that Indian authorities have intensified their efforts against drug trafficking in the last few years. Many high-profile actors, children of celebrities and TV personalities are under investigation by the authorities in drug cases. This trend has gained momentum after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Recently, Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was also accused of similar things and he had to spend several days in jail.
