Amazon Alexa app got Hindi support

Puneesh Sharma, country leader, Alexa, said in a statement, “India’s unique cultural and linguistic diversity has always inspired us to make Alexa more local and relevant to users in the country. With Hindi support, Alexa will be used by millions of Made accessible to Hindi speaking people.”
Puneesh also told that he has made many improvements in Natural Language Understanding. Giving an example, he explained that in the initial days, Alexey did not understand words like ‘Dhai’ and ‘Tham Jaa’, but now after this improvement, he will understand these also. Puneesh says that his team is working towards making conversation in Hindi more accessible and simple.
In the press release, Amazon informed that since the launch of Hindi support last year, the company has introduced 60 new features in it. 20 new Hindi stories along with 6 new Alexa Origin songs and poems have been added to the voice assistant database. Indian users can now give commands to Alexa like, “Alexa, hum something…”, “Alexa, recite cloud rap…”, “Alexa, recite cricket story…”, “Alexa, recite friendship story”.
According to Amazon, Alexa has improved by 40 percent in Automatic Speed Recognition (ASR) and 30 percent in Natural Language Understanding (NLU) over the past year. Apart from this, more than 1,000 Hindi skills have been added to it.
It is noteworthy that Hindi support was first introduced in Amazon Echo device in September last year. At the same time, now Hindi language support has been introduced in Alexa app in Android and iOS devices. To change the language in the app, you first have to go to Settings, then click on Alexa on this phone and then Language. Here you can select Hindi language from the available languages.
