The year 2020 has started off badly for people all over the world. The only reason for this is the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, due to which thousands of people are locked in their homes. Governments of all countries have advised people to adopt social distancing to prevent infection and in India, there is a lockdown situation for the last one month, where schools, colleges, offices and industries are closed and people are studying and working from their homes. This is the reason why OTT i.e. Over-the-Top Media Service is now being rapidly adopted for entertainment in India. In the last one month, many OTT services have achieved tremendous downloads. Therefore, this is the right time to give you information about some of the best OTT apps in India, where you can get a lot of entertainment. Netflix, Amazon Prime are very popular not only in India but all over the world, but do you know that there are also apps and services like Airtel Xstream, Hungama Play, Zee5, Voot etc., which are rapidly gaining popularity in India.

If you are getting bored due to Coronavirus Lockdown and are looking for such apps for entertainment that can remove your boredom through movies, TV shows or reality shows, then you are at the right place. Here we are giving you information about some such apps and services, in which you can enjoy movies, TV shows etc. to your heart’s content. So why wait, prepare the popcorn and take a look at these apps.

Airtel Xstream

Airtel Xstream is Airtel’s digital entertainment platform. It is not a single app or service but an ecosystem where users can access the service across multiple devices including TV, PC and smartphones. Airtel Thanks customers can download the Airtel Xstream app to watch content on their smartphones via Xstream. Android users can download it from Google Play Store and Apple users can download it from Apple App Store. To avail this service on TV or PC, customers can purchase Airtel Xstream Hybrid STB (set-top-box). The company has launched it for Rs 3,999 and users do not need to be an Airtel DTH customer to use it.

Airtel claims that customers can watch content in more than 13 languages in Airtel Xstream. The good thing about this service is that not one but many different OTT services can be accessed in it, including ZEE5, Hooq, Eros Now, HungamaPlay and Curiosity Stream etc. Apart from this, the company also claims that more than 60 lakh songs can also be streamed through Airtel’s Wynk Music service. The company also sells an Airtel Xstream Stick, through which customers can stream content on TV and PC by downloading Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and some other selected apps through Google Play Store. Its price is also Rs 3,999.

Let us tell you that Airtel has recently made the entire kids content library free in Airtel Xstream for Airtel Thanks customers.

Netflix

Netflix is a very popular streaming service not only in India but all over the world. One reason for this is the availability of many interesting exclusive content with Netflix. Netflix has a huge collection of movies and TV shows available. The service keeps adding exclusive original content from time to time. India is a very important market for the company, considering which the company has also introduced a separate mobile only plan in India, which costs Rs 199. Including Netflix’s mobile plan, there are currently a total of five plans, in which Rs 199, Rs 499, Rs 649 and the most premium plan of Rs 799 are available. All these plans come on a monthly basis. In all these plans, users can access all the content, but there is a difference in the device and streaming quality.

Amazon Prime Video

It has not been long since Prime Video was launched in India, but the service has become quite popular in India. Amazon Prime customers get not one but many benefits in taking Prime membership. Here not only video and music content streaming is available, but customers also get many benefits in Amazon shopping. Amazon also has many original Indian content available. There are two types of plans available to subscribe to Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime can be taken for Rs 129 per month or Rs 999 per year. Like Airtel Xstream Stick, Amazon Fire TV Stick also comes, which the company launched for Rs 3,999. Like Airtel Stick, through this also users can download other OTT apps along with Amazon Prime content in PC and TV.

Voot

Voot is also a video-on-demand platform. This OTT app claims to provide 45,000 hours of content from COLORS (Hindi), MTV, Nickelodeon, V and MTV. Voot has a collection of originals like Netflix and Prime. It has movies, TV shows as well as cartoon shows for children. For premium content, the company recently launched a subscription video-on-demand (sVoD) service called Voot Select. The company claims that more than 30 originals and more than 1500 movies are available in the app. VOOT’s premium service is available for Android, iOS and web users at a price of Rs 99 per month or Rs 999 per year.

Zee5

Another player in the OTT platform field is the Zee5 app, which was launched in 2018. The company claims that the service has more than 1 lakh hours of on-demand content and 80 live TV channels.
