Asteroid 2023 JK1 will Come close to earth today at speed of 31227 km says Nasa

American space agency NASA has told about an asteroid. This ‘rocky disaster’ is going to pass close to our Earth today. The special thing is that the asteroid is coming close to the earth at a stormy speed of 31 thousand 227 kilometers per hour. If an asteroid hits the Earth at this speed, it can cause major devastation. This is the reason why it has been included in the category of ‘potentially dangerous’ for the Earth and will continue to be monitored until it goes far away from the Earth.

Name of the asteroid coming closer to Earth today ‘2023 JK1’ Is. It was discovered this year. When it will be close to the Earth, the distance between the two will be 65 lakh kilometers, which is nothing compared to the vastness of space. The size of the asteroid ‘2023 JK1’ can be up to 203 feet wide, which means it can be as big as an airplane. It belongs to the Amor group of asteroids. These are asteroids that rotate in the outer orbits of the Earth and the inner orbits of Mars.

According to NASA, asteroids are also called minor planets. Just as the planets of our solar system revolve around the Sun, similarly asteroids also revolve around the Sun. It is believed that when the solar system was formed billions of years ago, the rocky remains left behind were called asteroids. Scientists have not yet been able to locate all the asteroids. Many asteroids are not detected by telescopes because they are hidden in the glare of the Sun. Most asteroids are found in the main asteroid belt, which lies between Mars and Jupiter. Their size can range from 10 meters to 530 kilometers.

When an asteroid is discovered, it is named by the International Astronomical Union Committee. The name can be anything, but a number is also added to it like – (99942) Apophis. Asteroids are also named after artists, scientists and historical characters.
