Ather Energy Starts Business in Sri Lanka, Its Second International Market

Ather Energy, one of the big electric two-wheeler companies, has informed about starting its business in Sri Lanka. Last year, the company started selling its electric scooters in Nepal. The company has tied up with Evolution Auto for business in Sri Lanka. Its first experience center will be opened in the next quarter.

According to a media report, the distributor of Ather Energy in Sri Lanka will be Evolution Auto. it sales Will also handle the service. To increase the penetration of electric vehicles in Sri Lanka, Ather Energy also plans to launch a fast charging network. The company said, “We are excited to start business in the Sri Lankan market. Since opening its first international outlet in Nepal last year, Ather Energy has opened three experience centers and seven fast charging grids there. The company has more than 200 experience centers in India. At the end of last year, Ather Energy had achieved the figure of manufacturing two lakh electric scooters. The company’s factory is in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. In this segment the company competes with Ola Electric. Hero MotoCorp has investments in Ather Energy.

Ather Energy’s four electric scooters are 450S, 450X, 450 Apex and Rizta. Sales of EVs are increasing rapidly in the country and electric two-wheelers have a major contribution in it. Last year, the company introduced upgrades for its electric scooters. These included AtherStack 5.0 software, which is the company’s biggest software upgrade. It claims that AtherStack 5.0 will also improve the performance of the electric scooter as it helps in extracting maximum torque from the scooter for a longer period of time without derating. Recently the company launched the family scooter Rizta. This electric scooter has two variants – Rizta S and Rizta Z. It has a longer and wider seat than other electric scooters. Rizta S has a 2.9 kWh battery. Its range is about 105 kilometers.
