Blaupunkt BTW100 True Wireless Earphones Review: Promises good sound quality on a budget

BlackBerry The price of the 1,299 rupees in India is Rs. At this price, it comes with environmental noise cancellation, touch controls and USB Type C charging case. Is this the best affordable true wireless headset you can buy right now? Let’s find out in this review.

Design and Specifications of Blaupunkt BTW100
The Blaupunkt BTW100 come at a very affordable price, but the design doesn’t match the affordable price. They look great with an excellent in-canal fit and a long stem. The earpieces have a large Blaupunkt logo running along the length of the stem and indicator lights at the top. The charging contact points are on the inside of the stem and the microphone is at the bottom of the earpiece.
Blaupunkt BTW100 is available in two color options – Black and White. The black variant I had did not show any fingerprints easily. The fit was comfortable even after long listening hours. The outer sides of the earpieces are touch sensitive for control, but due to lack of app support, they cannot be customized.
A single tap on the side plays and pauses music, a double tap skips to the next or previous track, a triple tap lets you control the volume. A touch and hold gesture lets you activate the default voice assistant on your smartphone. There were times when the tap did not register properly on the earpiece. A double tap or triple tap was registering as a single tap. You have to make sure that the tap registers correctly so that the controls work properly.
The charging case is quite simple and is clamshell shaped. Being small and lightweight, it can easily fit in a pocket or handbag. There are three indicator lights on the front to indicate the battery level. There is a USB Type C charging port on the back. The earpiece and lid fit into it magnetically.
Blaupunkt BTW100 is a budget wireless handset but its features and specifications are quite good. It has Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, supports SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs. It has environmental noise cancellation for better sound experience. The headset is rated IPX5 for water resistance.

This headset supports 80ms low-latency, but it cannot be activated from the headset, so assume that the earphones are always in low-latency mode during use. They have 10mm dynamic drivers. A total of three pairs of silicone eartips and a short charging cable are available in the sales package.
Blaupunkt BTW100 performance and battery life
True wireless earphones under Rs 2000 now come with features like app support and active noise cancellation. The more affordable headsets are also simple to operate. This headset does not have many features but it is equipped with technology internally. The most important part of it is the sound quality which is quite good at this price point.
One good thing is that the Blaupunkt BTW100 supports AAC Bluetooth codec along with SBC. I listened to Croatia Squad’s Back To Life on this and the earphones had a lot of low-end bias. The sound was quite punchy and aggressive. Electronic or popular music fans will love its bass on the earphones. The headset is quite loud which gets even louder when listening to fast and aggressive tracks.
Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic has strong hip-hop inspired beats that punch hard, yet there was still plenty of room for vocals and pop elements which made for an aggressive sound that was still fun to listen to, with good soundstage and imaging.

There is good separation in the audio but it cannot be said that the sound in the headset is very detailed, because after all this is an affordable headset. Its strong bass seems to be distracting and it becomes a bit difficult to hear the finer points of the track. It should also be noted here that even after listening at high volume for a long time, there is no fatigue in its bass. The headset is quite comfortable even at low or low volume, but then one does not feel that much excitement and joy while listening.
The call quality is average but is useful for short calls. Its environmental noise cancellation improves the voice quality but background noise still enters the ears when outdoors. The connection quality is good and the connectivity is stable. There was no problem in connectivity up to a distance of 3 meters from the paired smartphone.
Considering it is an affordable headset, its battery life is also quite good. The earpieces last up to 4 hours on a single charge. With the charging case, they can be charged five more times, taking the total battery life to 23 hours on medium and high volume. This is much less than the 40 hours of battery backup claimed by the company but is good for its price.
Our verdict
Affordable true wireless earphones tend to be pretty basic and not very polished, but the Blaupunkt BTW100 is a refreshing addition to this price range where we often see average products. It may not have a ton of features but its design, sound quality, support for the AAC Bluetooth codec and good battery life make it a pretty good option under Rs 1500.
This price segment is quite competitive and by spending a few hundred rupees more, you can also go for other options that come with active noise cancellation, including the Realme Buds Q2. You can also look at neckband style Bluetooth earphones in this price range. But if you want to buy true wireless earphones and the budget is tight, then Blaupunkt BTW100 is a good choice.
