Brain May Flush Out Toxins After A Mental Workout Says Study

If your mind gets tired of drowning in the stream of thoughts throughout the day, then this news can prove to be very useful for you. A new study says that it can clean the toxic substances inside itself to remove mental fatigue. That means the possibility of having a flush system in the brain has been found. New research says that a special type of visual stimulation can be created so that the brain can clear the garbage accumulated inside it.

This news has come from Boston University in which this study has been conducted. New Scientist’s Report According to, its disposal system can be activated by initiating severe neural activity in the brain. That is, if the brain is given such a severe stimulating effect, it will automatically flush out the waste material. At the same time, earlier studies say that during sleep, the brain expels the waste material inside it.
Scientists say that now a surprising thing has come to light that it can work even in awake humans. Flow of a special type of fluid has been found in the brain, which is called cerebrospinal fluid. A discovery related to this was made in 2012. In which it was found that this fluid works for the disposal system of the brain, which is sent to the brain and passes through fine tubes and comes out. It was named glymphatic system.

Research in this regard says that this fluid also removes some harmful elements from the brain which are considered to be the cause of disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. These include the names of beta amyloid and alpha synuclein etc. Mr. Luce’s team associated with the study used different tools and scanning techniques for this. 20 volunteers were included in the research, in front of whom a screen was placed for viewing. They were shown a visual pattern that placed a heavy burden on the brain.

After looking at the pattern, the blood flow of these people was found to increase. At the same time, when the screen went black, the blood flow decreased again and the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain increased. Scientists are currently doing more research about it and trying to understand the working mechanism of this fluid. It may soon be possible to activate the brain’s flush-out system even while we are awake.
