BSNL outperforms Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, gets lakhs of new subscribers

Subscribers of government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) are increasing. In July this year, big telecom companies like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio had increased their tariffs. After this, many subscribers of these companies joined BSNL.

According to the report of telecom regulator TRAI, BSNL has added about 25 lakh new subscribers in August. However, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have lost about 24 lakh subscribers and about 40 lakh subscribers respectively. BSNL had also acquired about 30 lakh new subscribers in July. However, despite this, the market share of the company is much less than that of private telecom companies. The market share of Reliance Jio is about 40.5 percent and that of Bharti Airtel is about 33 percent. BSNL’s share in this market is about 7.8 percent. The company is getting new subscribers because of its low tariffs.

There are preparations to make BSNL SIM cards easily available. For this, the company has planned to install machines like ATM. This machine was displayed at the India Mobile Congress held last week. With this, BSNL users will be able to get the SIM card through these machines or self-care app.

These vending machines will be installed at busy places like railway stations and airports. This will help BSNL in increasing the number of its customers. These SIM vending machines will be especially helpful for those people who do not want to go to BSNL offices or exchanges. BSNL has also planned to stop spam calls on its mobile network. To deal with spam calls, it will use solutions related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has also started taking strict action regarding spam calls. BSNL has also prepared to enter the low price mobile segment. The company has partnered with Karbonn Mobiles to introduce an exclusive SIM handset bundling offer. These handsets will compete with Jio Bharat 4G feature phones. With this, users will not have to buy expensive smartphones to use the company’s 4G services.
