Car size asteroid 2024 JN16 came very close to earth just after discovered 2 days ago

It did not collide with the Earth, but came as close as 18,500 kilometres. An asteroid coming so close puts it in the category of potentially dangerous.
The Virtual Telescope Project According2024 JN16 was discovered two days ago by an amateur astronomer Gennadiy Borisov. He was working at the Margo Observatory in Crimea when the asteroid was discovered.
According to the report, this asteroid belongs to the Apollo asteroid group, whose orbits intersect with the Earth. The well-known asteroid of this group was the Chelyabinsk meteor. In 2013, that asteroid caused devastation by breaking on the Russian city of Chelyabinsk. Its size was more than a 6-storey building. Its breaking caused an explosion more powerful than a nuclear explosion. Many people were injured in the city. Windows of people’s houses were broken.
According to NASA, these are also called minor planets. Just like all the planets in our solar system revolve around the Sun, asteroids also revolve around the Sun. Asteroids are rocky remnants left over from the initial formation of our solar system about 4.6 billion years ago. Scientists have so far discovered 11 lakh 13 thousand 527 asteroids. Most asteroids are found in a main asteroid belt, which is between Mars and Jupiter. Their size can range from 10 meters to 530 kilometers. The total mass of all the asteroids discovered so far is less than the Earth’s moon.
