Chinese company Landspace target to build stainless steel rocket compete with spaceX

Stainless Steel Rocket: The use of reusable rockets is increasing in the field of space. American space company ‘SpaceX’ has been flying reusable rockets for a long time. These rockets are used repeatedly, which reduces the cost of any mission. India has also moved towards developing reusable rockets. In China, work on this is being done in a different way. Landspace, a space startup there, has planned to develop a reusable stainless steel rocket.

The CEO of the company gave this information at an aerospace related event in the Chinese city of Chongqing. CEO Zhang Changwu’s presentation revealed that the company will implement stainless propellant tanks and clusters in its rocket. This two-stage launcher will have a payload capacity of 20 metric tons in low Earth orbit.

The website spacenews has considered this announcement important, because recently the American space company ‘SpaceX’ has tested the world’s heaviest rocket ‘Starship’. The competition between China and America is not hidden from anyone. America is constantly facing challenges from China in the field of space.

However, Landspace has not told when it will launch its stainless steel rocket. It seems that the project is in the initial phase. It is possible that the company will have to face many challenges during manufacturing also. Among these, challenges like weight of steel and its quality can be important.

India is also planning to manufacture reusable rockets. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman S Somnath had made this announcement during the Bangalore Space Expo (BSX) last year. ISRO’s next launch vehicle after GSLV Mk III could be a reusable rocket, which is expected to reduce the cost of launching satellites. The Indian space agency is said to work with the space industry, startups and NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) for the reusable rocket.
