Crypto traders beware! Hacker posing as customer stole information of 50 lakh customers of this app
The company has a blog post The defendant called customer support and accessed a Robinhood employee’s customer support computer system while pretending to be an authorized party, it said. According to the company, after stealing information from Robinhood, the hacker also tried to withdraw payment from the company, after which the users were alerted about it by informing the police.
This breach with Robinhood happened on November 3. The hacker obtained approximately 5 million e-mail addresses associated with Robinhood users. Apart from this, information about investment service including names of 20 lakh other members was collected. The company believes that the hacker has obtained the names, dates of birth and zip codes associated with 310 users, as well as additional account details about some of those people.
In the blog post, Robinhood has said that it has controlled this attack. Users’ social security numbers, bank account numbers or debit card numbers have not been exposed. And no customer has suffered any financial loss in this case. It is believed that with the help of this information, hackers can send phishing e-mails to Robinhood members so that they can be deceived.
Robinhood is credited with bringing forward a generation of new individual investors in the stock market. But at the same time it is also believed that this platform offers such features, which make people addicted to this field.
