Australia fined Elon Musk’s X: Elon Musk’s social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) has been fined heavily in Australia. According to news agency Reuters Report According to, Australia’s e-safety commissioner has imposed a fine of 3 lakh 86 thousand dollars (about 3 crore 21 lakh 16 thousand rupees) on X. This action has been taken for not cooperating on questions related to child sexual exploitation. The company was asked how it deals with the spread of child sexual abuse, sexual harassment and live streaming of child sexual abuse. The company failed to answer these questions properly.

According to the report, Australia’s e-Safety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant said that X has publicly stated that tackling child sexual abuse is its first priority. But it cannot just be talk, we need to take concrete action.

X has 28 days to respond to the fine imposed on it or pay the fine within the stipulated time. It is said that the company failed to answer some of the questions asked in this case. However, this matter is not limited to X alone.

The Australian e-Safety Office sent a legal memo to some companies including Google, TikTok, Twitch and Discord, asking questions about child exploitation content. There is no information about the response of other companies yet. At present, it has come to light that a fine will be imposed on X.
