At the 40th Reliance Industries AGM on Friday, Chairman Mukesh Ambani finally launched the much-awaited Jio feature phone, the Jio Phone. Jio Phone has been in the news for a long time, but now it has finally been unveiled after months of speculation. Announcing the launch of Jio Phone, Ambani said that most of the population of India does not have smartphones and hence these people are not able to access the 4G Jio network. Jio Phone is designed for just such customers, and is an affordable 4G VOLTE feature phone that comes with ‘smart’ apps. At the AGM, Ambani described Jio Phone as ‘India’s intelligent smartphone’ which will be available free of cost. However, for this, Rs 1,500 will have to be paid as security which will be returned after three years. It is being said that this phone has many interesting features.

Apart from this, all Jio apps – Jio Music, Jio Cinema will also be available in Jio phone. Apart from this, there are bundled offers for access to these apps in the prepaid plans of the phone, which means you will be able to enjoy streaming services even on a feature phone. Apart from this, the phone also supports other apps like Facebook. Jio phone supports 22 Indian languages ​​and voice commands. You can message, call, search through voice commands.

Apart from this, another special feature – NFC support will also be available in this phone. With which users will be able to make payment through UPI from their linked bank account or through POS machine instead of debit card. However, this feature will be available later through software update while the hardware is already available.

Two types of prepaid plans have been introduced for Jio Phone through which one can sign up. The validity of both packs is one month and includes unlimited data, unlimited calls and SMS offers. The Rs 153 (up to 500 MB daily data) and Rs 309 plans look similar but there is a difference between them. With the Rs 309 plan, users will be able to connect their Jio phone to their TV through a TV cable accessory, so that you can enjoy Jio services with your family.

Ambani said in the AGM that for those users who do not want to take per month plan, the company has introduced two top ups with less time for data. No limit has been specified for these top ups also. For two days the user will have to spend Rs 24 while for one week the user will have to spend Rs 54.

It is worth noting that these plans are exclusive for Jio phone users and other Jio users cannot subscribe to them.

How to book Jio phone
Jio phone will be made available for beta program from 15th August and pre-booking of this phone will start from 24th August. Pre-booking customers will be able to purchase the phone before September 1 on a first-come, first-served basis. Mukesh Ambani said that Jio aims to provide 50 lakh Jio phones every week.

Apart from launching the phone, Ambani also shared some information about Reliance Jio’s Vridha. He said Jio now has more than 125 million subscribers, of which 100 million (10 crore) are paid subscribers. He further said that Jio users make more than 250 crore minutes of voice and video calls every day. And every month 165 crore hours are spent watching high speed videos while 125 crore gigabytes of data are consumed every month.
