Facebook beat by trais smaller employee revised in careless people book Sarah Wynn Williams

Social media veteran Facebook’s former employee Sarah Wynn-Williams has made many revelations related to Facebook in his book Careless People: The Explosive Memoir that Meta does not want you to read, including cases like cases like policies, violations of policies, misuse of strength and sexual harassment.

Sarah was working as a Global Public Policy Director at Win William Meta, Sarah worked in the company between 2011 and 2017. He had traveled continuously in countries like India, Brazil and South Korea during that time and during that time also mentioned the protest between the company and the governments there. According to the book, Facebook appointed a former police captain in India, who was also ready to go to jail when there was a protest between the company and the government.

What is free basics

It is a matter of 2016 when Meta (formerly Facebook) introduced the Free Basics Plan in many developing countries including India, a program in which users with low income get limited access to some websites. However, India had completely rejected it due to net neutrality (all should behave equally on the Internet without any discrimination).

Meta had made every effort

Sarah claims that Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, wrote a letter to PM Modi himself and demanded a meeting to discuss about the free basic plan. The then Chief Operating Officer of the company, Sheryl Sandberg, also wrote to the minister related to the Internet. The book also states that the company had run a big budget campaign for the support of free basic at that time, including advertising to TV, newspaper, cinema, radio, billboard and Facebook itself.

Facebook made a megone on its platform for users who wanted to support free basics, as Zuckerberg asked the team to take advantage of all the current tools of Facebook. So all Indian Facebook users saw a pop-up while logging. It has been claimed in the book that to reach more people, the team designed it in such a way that by clicking on it, the friend list of users will also be notified that they have submitted a letter to the regulatory.

Due to this, TRAI received about 17 million submissions till January 7, 2016, but on January 10, TRAI announced that he got only 1.4 million submissions. The Facebook team discovered what happened. An employee of TRAI who controlled Email Andres for public comments opted out all emails from Facebook. It took place on 16 December between 9:00 and 10:00 am. It is a record in Facebook’s log. More than 2 lakh emails were sent to him an hour before opt out. An hour after that the number decreased to 251. Zuckerberg and some of his team’s most brainy tech employees worked on it for months and a low rank official in India clicked the opt-out box and left him behind.
