FAU-G was released in India on 26 January, i.e. on the occasion of Republic Day. The game has been downloaded more than 50 lakh times so far. The game has been developed by nCore Games, a game studio based in Bangalore. FAU-G was also promoted by Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. It has currently been released only on the Android platform. Indian PUBG players had high expectations from the game. People believed that this game would overcome the lack of PUBG Mobile. However, nCore Games co-founder Vishal Gondal had made it clear even before the launch that FAU-G is not intended to replace PUBG Mobile in India. Immediately after the launch, the game’s rating on Google Play was 4.5 and in the last few days it has been getting 1 star ratings continuously and till the time of writing this news, its rating has become 3.0. Now the important question arises that why the game is being disliked now despite loud publicity. Here are some key points worth noticing.

Unnecessary Hype

The Indian government banned PUBG Mobile in September 2020 and within a few days of the ban, nCore Games announced FAU-G. Not only this, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar also jumped into the field of promotion. Shortly before the ban on Chinese apps, there was a clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers. Akshay Kumar also promoted the game vigorously in the name of self-reliant India and support of Indian soldiers. The clash between the soldiers, anti-China sentiments, the ban of PUBG Mobile and finally the promotion of the FAU-G game under the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign, all these had increased the expectations of Indian players about the game. People started considering FAU-G as an Indian alternative to PUBG Mobile.

Boring Single Player Campaign Mode

FAU-G, launched after a long wait and heavy promotion, turned out to be a very simple game. The game currently has a single player campaign mode, which you only have to finish by tapping a button repeatedly. In other words, it can also be called boring. There are some interesting Hindi dialogues, but they are also repeated again and again. You will like them in the beginning, but it is possible that you may get bored of them soon.

Lack of Controls, Guns, and Customizations Options

In FAU-G, your character is Lieutenant Singh. Your regiment is ambushed by Chinese opponents in the Galwan Valley. The gameplay is quite simple, consisting of fights with hordes of enemies and sadly, there are not many variations in gameplay or combat. In the name of weapons in the game, only sticks are available, otherwise you have to rain kicks and punches. There are only two buttons in the brawler mechanics, the first is ‘hit’ and the second is ‘block’, out of which you will hardly need the ‘block’ button. In this, you will also find places where you can increase your health back. You also do not get options to customize your character. FAU-G is missing everything that a player expects from any modern action shooter game.

No Battle Royale Mode

As we mentioned above, FAU-G currently only comes with a single player campaign mode, which is boring to play. The lack of a Battle Royale mode like PUBG Mobile in the game may be the reason for the anger of PUBG fans. However, there are two more modes on the home screen of the game, which are not currently active. nCore Games says that ‘Free For All’ and 5v5 ‘Team Deathmatch’ modes will also be added to the game soon. It is expected that these two modes will make FAU-G more exciting.

Graphics and Bugs

The graphics of the game also look quite old as compared to other games launched in 2021. There seems to be a lack of details. There are also some bugs in the game. During the gameplay, many times it will happen that the enemy soldiers will not attack you. Sometimes it happens that the enemies surround you from all sides, but none of them attack you.

Certainly, nCore Games has been a bit hasty in releasing FAU-G. Although its launch was postponed several times, but now, when it has been officially released, many shortcomings are still visible. It is expected that the company will improve these shortcomings through updates in the coming days and many elements that make the game exciting will also be added.
