First glimpse of Honor 6X

Huawei Terminal’s online brand Honor has gradually succeeded in creating its own identity in the Indian market. Now the company has informed that it is launching Honor 6X in the international market. We got our first glimpse of this phone in October last year when it was launched in China. Now it has been announced in CES 2017 that it will soon be made available in other markets also which includes India.

There will be two variants of Honor 6X. One will be equipped with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage and the other will have 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. We expect the 3GB RAM variant to be sold in India for less than Rs 15,000. Both the variants will be available in grey, silver and gold color variants. We spent some time with the handset’s Chinese unit in Mumbai ahead of the CES announcement. Now we will share our experience with you. This smartphone has been designed keeping the youth in mind. This phone has two rear cameras.

Honor 6X has a metal backpanel. Its edges are curved, but it stains easily. The design of the front panel is such that the Honor 6X feels sturdy. Despite the 5.5 inch screen, there is no problem in using it with one hand. In this you will get onscreen Android navigation buttons. There is nothing amazing in the design. But it looks good and gives a feeling of satisfaction.

The power and volume buttons on the right side are easy to access. The fingerprint sensor is on the backpanel, just below the camera lens. The hybrid SIM tray is on the left. This means that you will be able to use only one of the second SIM and microSD card. A speaker and Micro-USB port are at the bottom of the handset. And the 3.5 mm audio socket is on the top.

Honor 6X runs on EMUI 4.1 which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. You will find many apps pre-installed. Because of this the user interface feels a bit cluttered. At the same time, custom icons and graphics have been kept very simple and polished. For this reason it is easier to use. The notification drawer is heavily customized.

Performance is good. But we will give the final decision only after doing the benchmark test. You will also get 3340 mAh battery.

The 5.5-inch full-HD screen is very sharp and saturated. Our experience with it was satisfactory. One sensor on the rear is 12 megapixels and the other is 2 megapixels. The second sensor will be used for depth sensing. With its help, the camera app of Honor 6X allows making various changes in the photos after taking the photo. This works best in close up shots. We will explain in detail about the performance of the camera in the review.
