First glimpse of iPhone SE
This launch event of Apple was held at the Apple Campus in Cupertino and it was a smaller event than Apple’s previous launch event. Gadgets 360 continuously brings you live updates from the Apple event. At this event, we got a chance to spend some time with the new iPhone SE and the new iPad Pro. Know here how the experience was with the new iPhone device during this period.
If you like to use larger phones like the iPhone 6S Plus, then you may actually find the iPhone SE a little light. When we held the iPhone SE in our hands for the first time, we were a little surprised at how light it was. It seemed as if we were holding a phone without battery. Weighing only 113 grams, iPhone SE feels very light in hand. Along with this, we feel that we have become accustomed to using big, heavy phones. But the design of iPhone SE can be called new and unique.
The iPhone SE makes you feel like a premium device, just like any other Apple device. But it’s not quite like the iPhone 5c, the last time Apple tried to make an affordable phone. Nothing in the iPhone SE is made of plastic. iPhone SE gives you a pleasant feeling when held in hand. However, now metal finish and good design are not as difficult to find in budget and mid-range smartphones as it used to be a year or two ago. Therefore, it would be a mistake to say that iPhone SE is far ahead in terms of its design and body design.
Talking about the physical dimensions of the phone, iPhone SE can give you an impression like iPhone 5S, but talking about screen-to-body ratio, this problem of Apple still continues. All Android manufacturers offer larger screens in their phones with many iPhone model sizes, but the iPhone this time too has a physical home button along with the Touch ID sensor. We also said this in our review of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Now it remains to be seen whether this problem is solved in the upcoming iPhone models or not.
Due to the smaller screen of the iPhone SE, we thought that most of the screen would be taken up by the keyboard while typing and very little space would be left for the actual content, but as you can see in the picture, this is the case with the new smaller screen iPhone SE. Not found.
As usual, Apple did not disclose the battery capacity of the iPhone SE. But the iPhone SE has a claimed battery life of at least 13 hours when using Internet on LTE, compared to the iPhone 6 (10 hours) and iPhone 6 Plus (12 hours).
Apple says that the iPhone SE has been designed in such a way that it can be used with one hand. This claim of Apple is true and we did not face any problem in using the iPhone SE with one hand. Now it remains to be seen how many users will leave smartphones with big screen and big battery for a compact device. Especially in Asian markets, customers favor pocket-sized ‘phablets’ with larger screens and now it will be interesting to see how many users the iPhone SE, which is more pocket-friendly in many ways, can attract.
The price of iPhone SE will start from Rs 39,000 in the Indian market and it will start being available in India from the beginning of April. Earlier, the company had announced the price of iPhone SE at Rs 30,000, but it will be known only in the future how many people like the phone with the new price tag.
Let it be known that the expenses of our correspondent’s stay in Cupertino, who went to attend the iPhone SE launch event, have been borne by Apple.
