First glimpse of Lenovo K6 Power

Lenovo on Tuesday launched its new smartphone Lenovo K6 Power. Its price is Rs 9,999. It will be available in silver, gold and dark gray colors. The handset will be sold exclusively on e-commerce site Flipkart.

Lenovo K6 Power is being projected by the company as an entertainment device. To ensure uninterrupted entertainment, the company has included a 4000 mAh battery in it. We spent some time with this handset at the launch event. How did we like this phone at first glance? Let us tell you.

Considering that Lenovo K6 Power has a large battery, the first thing that catches your eye is its design. It is not heavy. Dimensions are 141.90×70.30×9.30 millimeters and weight is 145 grams. It cannot be called slim by today’s standards, but we did not face any problem in using it with one hand. Talking about design, Lenovo has not tried to do anything unique. But K6 Power feels more premium than its price. The credit for this goes to the metal body.

The pixel density of the 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display is 441 ppi. We found the display to be sharp, but we couldn’t test it in outdoor light. There are no physical buttons on the front panel of the handset. Three capacitive buttons are provided for Home, Back and Recent. The volume and power buttons are located on the left edge of the device. These were easy to access when using it with one hand.

There is a 13-megapixel camera with a fingerprint sensor on the rear of the smartphone. The rear camera has Sony IMX258 sensor. The sensor of the front camera is 8 megapixels. It has IMX219 sensor with wide angle lens. In the short time we spent with the K6 Power, both of us would consider the camera to be a positive aspect of it.

The phone’s camera app has a variety of modes for both professional and novice users. Common users are also given some tips on how to take good photos through special modes. At the same time, professional users can take better photos by changing the settings as per their wish.

Lenovo has given a new security feature in the phone with the help of which selected apps can be locked through fingerprint or passcode. The company claims that the fingerprint scanner is very fast and with its help it is possible to unlock the device from standby mode in just 0.3 seconds. We will be able to investigate these claims only during the review.

The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow on top of which the company’s Vibe Pure UI skin has been used. It uses a 1.4 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 3 GB RAM. In the limited time we spent with the handset, we did not find any shortcomings in the performance of the device. Sadly, there weren’t many apps available on the handset for testing. In such a situation, we will be able to write about it in detail only in the review.
